Playfair & Noble - Alex CrovettiEach week, we’ll be interviewing a member of the Startup community to find out about their deepest, darkest secrets! We’ll be profiling developers, as well as CEOs – so no one is safe! This week, Alex (see photo) has agreed to be our willing victim.

Alex is the Managing Director of Playfair & Noble, a newly launched online recruitment company. He left Verona at the tender age of 24 and arrived in Edinburgh in 2000, where he learnt English from scratch. He moved to do a degree in Project Management in Leeds and has been working in project management in Edinburgh ever since.  His startup, Playfair and Noble, attempts to remove the restrictions imposed by traditional recruitment, by cutting out the “middle man” and allowing employers and professionals to communicate directly. Alex mentions that their real selling point is that the company pays 50% it earns back to professionals who find work with them and rewards the referrers 10% of the fee.

Oh, and he got married last month (Congratulations!)

What’s your startup/business? Playfair & Noble – ‘Change has come, recruitment is evolving’.

Give us your company culture in 3 words: Innovation, Boldness, Transparency.

What’s the next big challenge or hurdle the company needs to overcome? Since we have only recently launched, to get professionals and employers to register with the website and their CVs and job adverts on the database.

In one sentence, what’s the personal dream?  Have a superpower!

And the professional dream? Playfair & Noble to be recognised as the brand which shook up and changed the recruitment industry.

What do you do for stress relief? Drive to the beach.

Your favourite ’skint’ meal? Sandwich with Parma ham.

How do you celebrate milestones or awards? I decant a bottle of Amarone, let it breath… and savour it with my favourite cheese and cured meats.

What’s your biggest guilty pleasure? Eating SuperJam out of the jar.

And the coolest event you’ve been to? Without a doubt, my wedding.

Name a quirky fact about yourself: I drive a 1971 red Fiat 500… our playfairandnoblemobil!!

Given the choice, would you prefer…

ii) Carrot or Stick? Carrot cake and sticky toffee pudding.
