I wanted to do some serious writing yesterday but try as I might I could not get past an alternative form of writers block. It wasn’t like my mind was blank. If only! Nope, I had hit a wall of rhythm and random phrases that would NOT let me pass! On my home I decided to give the nonsense some expression by allowing it to be dumped onto my notepad, in the hope that the mental spillage would clear my mind for more serious works. Here at Startupcafe we do promise a side helping of silliness with our other content. So, ready to see what landed on my pad?
Ode to a developer
I want to help your business
I want to see it grow
But when I ask for info
The developers say ‘No!’
They do it with their vagueness
They do it with their sneers
And when they’re done ignoring me
They ask me to fetch beers!
I wonder if they get it
I wonder if they care
Ignoring non-developers
Simply isn’t fair!
We work here for a reason
We work here ‘cos we know
Communicating your product
Can help your business grow!
——
A developer’s retort
Building applications
Can be a tricky thing
We really need to concentrate
On what we are making!
But on the verge of breakthrough
You decide to come along
Break our concentration &
Ask “what has gone wrong?”!
You ask us for an update
And when we’ve stuff to say
We do our best to tell you
But you don’t get it anyway!
Rapid evolution
Is in the nature of our job
It’s the reason for the vagueness
So shut your bloody gob!
We didn’t mean to say that
Didn’t mean to be so rude
Pulled another over-nighter
So can’t behave as best we should!
Feel free to continue this conversation in ditty form…it can be just a couple of lines long…either stick it in comments or email: hello@startupcafe.co.uk
Cheerio folks

Need a place to showcase your product?
Oh my gosh Bela
Your ode is MAGNIFICENT
Now it all makes sense
… I call that one “Haiku commentary”
Haha, thanks Jess! Not sure where I got the inspiration…maybe I should ask the rest of Facebooktu.be ?? (just kidding guys!)
I love it! Totally captures the dynamic.
Of course, if the non-techies can’t understand the techies, and the techies can’t understand the non-techies, probably the business isn’t going to do very well…
Thank you Ben! I’m glad you enjoyed this post
