Yes, Social Innovation Camp is back! This time, the team have preferred to locate the competition to the East side of the country (at the Informatics Forum – where I’m sitting right now!) between 17th – 19th June 2011.
Social Innovation Camp brings together software developers and designers with people who understand a social problem to help build web and mobile solutions to social challenges.
This year’s theme is social isolation:
For our fifth Social Innovation Camp, we’re excited to be working with the Institute for Research and Innovation in Social Services to help find ideas focussed on using web and mobile tools to help tackle social isolation.
IRISS supports Scotland’s social services workforce to deliver better and more innovative outcomes for the people who use services. We’ll be posting more here shortly about the kind of ideas we’ll be helping to develop with their team.
Their call for ideas is now open:

If you have an idea for how mobile and web apps could be used to help overcome social isolation, make sure you submit it today! And looks like Aaron Bassett got there before everyone else!
And before you think that these camps don’t make a difference, I want to point out that MyPolice was one of the success stories to come out of the last time SICamp was around. Let’s hope that there’s another similarly successful story.

Thanks so much, Kate! We’re not only focussed on Social Isolation, but it’s a pretty interesting topic! Can’t wait to meet up soon!
