The tech-savvy Fringe Festival is hosting an awesome Twinge Party for Twitter fans, so I hope you’re free Friday evening this week! I’m extremely excited to break the news that the sponsor for this lively, hilarious, and exceptionally cool event will be none other than Informatics Ventures. This is the first event of its kind at the Fringe (how often can you truly say that?), and will surely be one of the hottest free (yes, free!) happenings.

So, what can you look forward to? An entertaining assortment of act snippets, tweeted comedy, and mingling amongst a variety of comedians, dancers, superheroes, magicians and other eccentric festival characters. I’m also told there will be soap boxes for spontaneous preachings or performances, so prepare your banter if you have the urge to step up. All of this madness will take place Friday, 14th August from 6-9pm at Fringe Central (aka ground floor of Appleton Tower).

The Twinge will additionally be the launch party for two of our beloved EPIS entrepreneurs with festival-related products. Loc8 Solutions has impressively created the Official Edinburgh Festivals Guide, an iphone application that makes it easier for you to navigate all the festival events with location-based considerations, performance information, and reviews all-in-one. Another cause for celebration is Affect Labs launching FestBuzz, a crowdsourced review of festival shows using artificial intelligence to interpret all sorts of chatter.  We’re so excited, we’ll give you the full scoop on both of these shortly!

Huge thanks to Gav (Loc8 Solutions) for making the connection between the Fringe folks and Informatics Ventures – good thinking! We at IV were delighted to jump on the opportunity to get involved with such a neat event, get some exposure with international festival-goers, and especially to support the local launches.

Specific plans are still being arranged and with four crazy days to go, anything is possible. What outrageous, wacky, or entertaining things could Informatics Ventures do to raise its profile and make the Twinge one of the most spectacular and enjoyable summer events? We’ve been trying to brainstorm in the IV office but could use some help… throw out your awesome, strange, or crazy ideas below and you may just see it happen on Friday!
