No shortage of entertainment this week, and have a look at the upcoming events too so you can get your tickets booked in time. We’ll be at most of these, so hopefully see you soon!
Elevator Networking Event: Monday 26th Oct, 6pm at Why Not Nightclub (George St)
A free business networking club for folks 18-30 years old, these events are pitched at young entrepreneurs and people who want to set up their own businesses. Put on by Shell LiveWIRE and PSYBT, the event seems to be comfortably casual and probably a good laugh in Why Not. Do RSVP though by emailing edinburghelevatorbooking@psybt.org.uk to let them know you’re coming.
Improve Your Search Engine Raking: Tuesday 27 Oct, 9am-12pm at Apex House
Run by Business Gateway, this is a 3 hour workshop to help companies with SEO. Probably more for beginners than intermediates, judging by the organisation’s main audience, so may not be worth your time if you’re already competent. Anyone interested, book online first – looks like it’s full at the moment but add yourself to the reserve list.
Internet Marketing for Silicon Valley Startups: Wednesday 28 Oct, 6:30pm at Business School (7 Bristo Sq), LT1
E-Club hosts Sean Ellis, a startup marketing guru from the Silicon Valley who knows how to make the most of the online world. You can see his blog http://startup-marketing.com for a taster. No RSVP needed, just turn up, and enjoy wine and crisps afterward.
Mobile Application Group Launch: Wednesday 28 Oct, 6:00pm at Appleton Tower
A new meetup squeezes into the scene for app developers and groupies. The launch will feature a talk by RBS Head of Research and Innovations, and they’ve got £3000 up for grabs if you can design a cool finance app. Mingling with drinks/snacks from 6pm, and talks start 6:45pm. Reserve your spot on the Eventbrite link.
Glasgow Tech Meetup: Wednesday 28 Oct, 7pm at Glasgow Caledonian University, Saltire Centre Flr 1
A monthly must for anyone in the tech startup scene – developers, programmers, entrepreneurs, students, community members, and curious bystanders. Most importantly, there will be free pizza and beer =). No RSVP or tickets needed, it’s a very open and inviting bunch.
Startup Internet Marketing Workshops: Thursday and Friday 29/30 Oct, 9am-4pm
Silicon Valley speaker Sean Ellis will offer full day workshops for founders, execs and marketers of internet startups. The same course will run on Thursday and Friday, with each day limited to a cozy group of 15, and there surprisingly still appear to be spots available. Be prepared to read all the posts on his Startup Marketing Blog, but should be well worth the effort! Really a fantastic opportunity if you can make the time. See the Eventbrite site to sign up.
