Jess is away to Copenhagen for a few days, so I’m here to serve up your events menu this week. This is week really busy, seeing MoMo, Launch Lab, REE Fest and Barcamp all happening at once!
Mobile Monday, Monday 6th Sept, 12.30pm at Centotre
One topic in mobile that has regularly been mentioned at previous events, but without anyone having a massively strong grasp of the details is Near Field Communications or NFCs. This seems to be an area that is starting to come to life. As a result, this month’s MoMo is about NFCs.
Launch Lab, Tuesday 7th Sept, 9am at Creative Photography (Note unusual venue)
Have you got an idea? Or a pitch you need to practice? Come down and give it a spin as part of the Launch Lab Pitching Session! The group offers an incredibly useful, friendly critique and helps you develop something interesting into something great! It can be any kind of pitch, as long as it’s not longer than 10 minutes, and you can ask us to discuss either the IDEA or the PITCHING skills, or both!
REE Fest, Wednesday 8th Sept, 5.30-7.30pm, Informatics Forum
This year’s European REE Fest will showcase be open to the wider community of Scotland and beyond. We welcome guests from government, business, higher education, and non-govermental organizations to attend, as well as others who might share an interest in entrepreneurship and design. REE Fest 2010 will showcase the innovative pedagogies and platforms of entrepreneurship educators, the brilliant works of design and art students, and the ambitious start-up plans of student entrepreneurs.
Techmeetup Edinburgh, Wednesday 8th Sept, 6pm – 9pm, Appleton Tower
Next Edinburgh Tech Meetup will feature the return of the 5 minute talks. 6 talks are lined up.
Barcamp Glasgow, Thursday 9th Sept, 5pm, BBC Offices, Glasgow

Those new to barcamp are encouraged to read what to expect from a barcamp. While the sessions and talks will be decided at the event the broad theme will be: social media – public & private.
