Women only tech/web/startup events are well attended. If these same women were to attend mixed networking events, the gender ratio of ‘typical’ networking events would start to improve and perhaps these wouldn’t feel quite so male-dominated. I raise this point because men and women bring with them different qualities and it would be a shame not to be able to share and benefit from our differences.
I have a strong core of female friends and an equally strong core of male friends. I derive differing experiences from each. I tend to get nourishment, warmth and genuinely deep and exploratory conversations from my female groups. I get a lot of banter, alternative perspectives and straight talk from the male groups.
That said, I do enjoy the feeling of safety from majority -female events and am very much looking forward to my first Silicon Stilettos event later this week in London. Silicon Stilettos is a meetup over cocktails and open to any woman involved in technology – from writing about tech to running a tech startup.
Startupcafe’s Thomas Drapier is disappointed not to be able to attend (I don’t have a pair of man-feet shaped stilettos to lend him) but I’ve promised to share my experiences. I’m looking forward to meeting some awesome, kickass, technophilic women who might be willing to share some tech wisdom with you lot 🙂
Wow! At last I got a website from where I be capable
of really get valuable information regarding my study and knowledge.
