This summer, do something different. All students at Scottish higher education institutions are invited to apply for a place on SIE’s Bootcamp 10, an intensive entrepreneurial training programme that gives you the unique opportunity to take your idea for a new venture from concept to creation in a summer.
Whether you want to start-up your own successful business or social enterprise, Bootcamp 10 will accelerate your learning and will equip you with all the skills, knowledge, experience and networks you need to get your idea off the ground.
The Programme runs over three stages in the summer:
Stage 1. Days 1 to 3
Wednesday 30th June – Friday 2nd July at University of Stirling
OR
Monday 5th July – Wednesday 7th at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh
An intensive, 3 day residential training course. With a range of interactive activities and experiential learning challenges, you’ll acquire and develop the necessary knowledge and skills needed to launch and manage your venture. You’ll have the opportunity to request attendance at either location when you apply. After the residential course you’ll have time to develop your venture with support and guidance from SIE, the programme facilitators and experts in entrepreneurship. You’ll also be invited to attend Days 4 and 5 which are two follow-up days to learn new skills and share your progress. These days are optional but we highly recommend you make every effort to attend them to get the full Bootcamp experience.
Stage 2. Day 4 – Thursday 29th July
All participants come together to share their progress since the residential stages. New workshops, in-depth discussions and time to discuss your venture with facilitators.Stage 3. Day 5 – Thursday 26th August
Pitching Day. A chance to showcase your venture and demonstrate how far you have progressed since the residential stages, you will be given the chance to pitch for prizes to a panel of members of the business community and receive valuable feedback and suggestions for your next steps.Between Days 3/4 and Days 4/5 you’ll have time to develop your venture with support and guidance from SIE, the programme facilitators and experts in entrepreneurship. This time is unstructured by SIE, so you could still have a summer job, or work on your dissertation, but also make a positive move toward turning your idea into a reality.
During the 3 day residential programme, accommodation and all meals & snacks will be provided. There is a £30 non-refundable charge per student, payable once your place is confirmed and accepted. SIE will also ask for a £10 deposit for each of Days 4 and 5. This will be requested after Day 3 to hold your place and will be refunded on attendance.
Bursaries will be made available to cover this cost in exceptional circumstances. For more information, please contact Anthony Ives at a.ives@sie.ac.uk.

Can’t recommend this enough. This is the only SIE event where I’ve received emails out of the blue thanking me for what a great experience it was (and I wasn’t particularly involved, other than working for SIE in general).
Attendees are impassioned by their experiences at this Bootcamp, and many go on to launch real businesses by the end of the summer. Apply!
