After a wild week of business and tech events, all we can say is ‘hold on, there’s more!’ Hope you got your rest this summer because the events scene is in full swing. Unfortunate time conflicts mean you’ll need to make some tough decisions, but here are your exciting options:
Tech Meetup: Wednesday, 9th Sept, 7pm at Appleton Tower
A monthly must for anyone in the tech startup scene – developers, programmers, entrepreneurs, students, community members, and curious bystanders. Most importantly, there will be free pizza and beer =). Join in on the 8th floor of Appleton Tower, Chrichton Street. No RSVP or tickets needed.
Edinburgh Twestival: Thursday, 10th Sept, 7pm at Electric Circus
If it’s anything like last time, you can expect a night of social media goodness, drinks, and assorted entertainment. Find out which faces are behind those Twitter names you’ve been stalking, meet some cool people to follow, and enjoy all the madness that is the Twestival. For anyone music savvy, the lineup includes The Banana Sessions, Calamateur, Epic26, Chutes, and Cornelius AKA Omegamale. This is a ticketed event held at Electric Circus (formerly Massa, 36-39 Market Street), kicking off at 7pm. Should be well worth the £7 price, so get your ticket here or on the door.
MacMacDev: Thursday, 10th Sept, 7pm at Mezz
Turn up, talk code, contribute to the list of naughty words that Apple won’t let your app contain. An informal group for geeky conversation and code, open to any Mac developers whether you’re writing for the desktop, the iPhone, or for the web. MacMacDevs[34] will be held at Mezz, 49-51 London Street, Edinburgh, EH3 6LX, on Thursday 13 August 2009, from 7pm until whenever. If you’re planning on going along, drop a quick email to david@macmacdev.com to let him know.
Ask the Expert: Thursday, 10th Sept, details TBD
Run by JCI (Junior Chamber of Commerce), the evening is geared toward new and existing startups who are interested in a bit of advice. You can go along and ask the panel of experts any questions you’ve been longing to ask. Areas of expertise include Finance/Book-keeping, Websites & SEO, HR & sub-contracting, and Marketing/PR. Venue and time are still TBD, but email Suzanne at enterprise@jciedinburgh.org.uk if you are interested. We’ve not gone along to JCI events like this before, so we’re curious to hear what you think!
