There’s an exciting new innovation blog in town, and this this week we are delighted to catch up with its founder Jane Adams. Jane is an Edinburgh based writer and coach, having worked as a freelance journalist covering the smart card industry for 15 years. It was wonderful to speak with her and hear about the new blog, Innovation Focus Scotland, which highlights and promotes a variety of innovative companies across Scotland. With its coverage of anyone from startups to SMEs or corporates, we are really thrilled to see the Scottish tech blogging scene growing and certainly encourage you to keep an eye on www.scotif.com too!
What’s your startup/business? I’m a freelance marketing copywriter for technology companies and coach and I also run Innovation Focus Scotland (www.scotif.com), a blog focusing on innovative Scottish companies.
Give us your company culture in 3 words: Keep it interesting.
What’s the next big challenge or hurdle the company needs to overcome? Officially launching Innovation Focus Scotland and growing its readership.
What’s the personal dream (in one sentence)? I’d love to do a PhD one day.
And the professional dream (in one sentence)? To grow my business, despite the recession.
What do you do for stress relief? Dance classes or talk to friends.
Your favourite ’skint’ meal? I’m quite bad at skint eating but honestly given the choice between something cheap and pulse based and a nice slice of toast, I’ll take the toast every single time.
How do you celebrate milestones or awards? An episode of uncontrolled shopping.
What’s your biggest guilty pleasure? I feel no guilt about pleasure.
And the coolest event you’ve been to? I used to organise an event called The Advanced Card Awards for the UK smart card industry. Our first ever Awards dinner was probably the coolest thing I’ve ever experienced. That or a Pink Floyd tribute band I saw recently.
Name a quirky fact about yourself: There is a 33% chance I’m descended from Vlad the Impaler.
Give the choice, would you prefer…
i) Truth or Dare? Truth
ii) Carrot or Stick? Carrot please
iii) Tea or Coffee? Depends on the time of day. Coffee till 3pm (preferably from Artisan Roast), then English Breakfast tea.
