We love the HubDub team and sounds like one very lucky person will get to join them! Know an end-to-end LAMP developer, or is that you? Details below, and apply here if you’re interested: http://bit.ly/fanduel-webdev. Good luck!

Company overview
Hubdub Ltd is a VC funded high-growth startup based in Edinburgh and San Francisco that aims to be the world’s largest premium social gaming company for sports fans. It is played on FanDuel.com, via white label partners such as the New York Post, and in future on mobile. If you want to work with smart people on an exciting product that could be Scotland’s next big success story we want to hear from you.

The environment is fast paced, challenging and dynamic. We are looking for someone comfortable with this level of uncertainty and who thrives on the excitement of working in a startup. You will form part of a highly talented team so only high-calibre applicants able to demonstrate excellent problem solving and software engineering skills will be successful. (more…)

It’s with sadness that we’re reporting that the Hubdub team has decided to close their first product – news prediction site Hubdub – to focus on their second product – Fanduel. As Techcrunch reports here, Fanduel (which was launched around 6 months ago) has become a much more lucative opportunity for the 5-person team.

The spotlight was on Edinburgh this week for a US radio show covering entrepreneurs. The BusinessMakers Show recently paid us a visit to investigate the entrepreneurial activity in our lovely capital and speak with a handful of local startups. [listen to interview online here]

Russ Capper – one of the hosts of The BusinessMakers Show – flew over from sunny Houston, Texas, where the show is based. Previous guests on the show have included Steve Wozniak of Apple, Malcolm Gladwell (author of The Tipping Point), and Carly Fiorina (former CEO of Hewlett-Packard)… so I’ll just let you conclude what great success lies in our futures.

I filled Russ in on why Edinburgh is so awesome, life at the exciting startup TenBu Technologies, and of course StartupCafe. You may notice I was caught off guard when he asked ‘So what do you do in your spare time?’. (more…)

I’m happy to see that the Internet Marketing Meetup Group is going to be back in action. Having been terrifically run by Hubdub gurus for a couple years, the group has gone through a quiet spell for a few months without a fearless leader. Think Hubdub life was picking up quickly with FanDuel launching as well, but it looks like the Internet Marketing Meetup torch is now being handed to a new team of three – Alan, Jay, and Eliza.

If you are interested in online marketing, social media, SEO, and all that goodness, then look out for these monthly events. Organisers have laid out their goals and plans for the meetup below, and I think they’ll be taking on a really nice format – I especially like the chance to get market updates from the group. Have a look and perhaps see you there! (more…)
