Monday, 25th January: ELEVATOR networking, 6 for 6:30pm at Why Not? (George St)
Organised by PSYBT, these events are for anyone aged 18-30 who are in business or are thinking about going into business. Would you like to meet other young entrepreneurs and share ideas and inspiration? Are you aged 18-30, in business or thinking about it? Free to go, and pretty sure there’s free wine and/or canapes. Think an RSVP is ideal (email fiona.turnbull@psybt.org.uk to book), or you might be able to crash if it’s not full.
Tuesday, 26th January: CEO of Lastminute.com, 6:30pm at Business School LT1
Hosted by E-Club, CEO Ian McCaig will share the awesome story of one of the world’s most successful travel websites Lastminute.com. He was formerly COO for Nokia, so not a bad track record… plus he’s a University of Edinburgh alum! Quite a neat speaker to catch this week, definitely go if you can. Free wine and crisps from 8pm, and no need to RSVP for any of it.
Wednesday, 27th January: Glasgow Tech Meetup, 7pm at Saltire Centre, Caledonian Uni
You know the drill by now… and if you don’t, what are you waiting for? Free pizza, beer, and good tech chat for anyone interested. No RSVP, just follow the smell of pizza (or techies, whichever you prefer).
Friday, 29th January: Edinburgh Coffee Morning, 8am at Centrotre (George St)
Lovely bunch of digital media, social media, and just generally fun folks chatting away and making new friends. The best way to start your Friday, if you can manage the arrival. I generally make it for 9am and stick with the hard-core coffee junkies.

MIT Workshop – Entrepreneurial Product Marketing: 3rd-4th February
Not sure if there are last minute spots available, but this is a terrific 2-day training course with tech startups getting in free (well your £495 is covered by Informatics Ventures). Still worth checking if you’re interested! If you missed the boat this time, look out for the next one – every two months the subjects rotate.
iDEA Lab lunch: 23rd Feb, 12-2pm Informatics Forum
Mike Fourman is always up to something exciting… find out what projects are getting funding here, and perhaps be inspired to think up your own crazy idea. Plus it’s free, there’s lunch, and you may just learn something darn cool.
Enterprisers: 12th-15th April in Stirling
A great 4-day programme to build entrepreneurial confidence and can-do spirit 🙂 For students and recent grads from any Scottish University, any degree level, any discipline. Kind of feels like American summer camp, all the best bits anyways. Not so much relevant to current entrepreneurs, but tell your friends if they want to be more like you.
EIE Investor Showcase: 12th May, 9:30-2:30
It’s back! Mark your calendars… it’ll be invite only for the guest list, so start thinking how to make yourself useful. Startups/spinouts looking to exhibit (specific to tech, web, mobile, informatics, computer science) – the application is now open, so get approved early for a valuable spot.
TechCrunch Edinburgh: 12th May, 3-6:30pm
Hey, TechCrunch heard how cool we are up here in Scotland, so they’re crossing the border! Early bird tickets sold out within a couple days, so don’t delay if you want to be part of this startup madness – £60, but trust me, you won’t be able to blag your way in any other way.
