Calling all developers, designers, business folks, marketers, social media strategists, students, and others enthusiasts who would like to have a ridiculously cool, meaningful, and kick-ass weekend…
Good news! It’s time Scotland got to experience the wonderful energy, magic, and startup creation that is Launch48. You’ve heard us blog about it before (here and here), and after enjoying our experience in London we are very excited the crew is crossing the border for the first time to run Launch48 Edinburgh at the end of October.
Hang on, what are we so excited about? Launch48 is an entrepreneurial event where participants have 48 hours to build and launch a web or mobile application. Attendees break into teams of 15-20 people with a mixed set of skills, and in the space of one weekend real businesses are created and launched. With teammates learning from one another, the event is open to everyone from serial entrepreneurs to young professionals to students of all subjects.
Past teams we’ve been a part of are now actually incorporated and running, including 42voices and recip.ly, and Facebooktu.be caused quite an impressive stir. It’s awesome to see how much can really happen in 48 hours! Thanks to sponsorship from LAUNCH.ed, University of Edinburgh Business School, and Paypal, Launch48 will be running a Mini-Conference and Weekend here – you can sign up for one or the other, or both if you want to make the most of it.
Mini Conference: Friday 29th October, 12-5pm
Launch48 Mini-Conference will cover a range of topics related to the theme “Startups – From Local To Global.” Participants will get the opportunity to hear from a number of inspirational and knowledgeable speakers covering topics that will help us learn how to make the most of what we have locally to expand globally.
Weekend: 6pm Friday 29th October – 9pm Sunday 31st October
The Launch48 Weekend runs for 48 hours. If you have an interest in startups, web apps, mobile technologies, entrepreneurship, meeting new people, and want to be involved in launching a startup purchase your ticket now. The weekend may be particularly useful in finding new people to work with, forming a new startup, and meeting experienced and knowledgeable mentors.
Early Bird tickets are on sale this week, so book here before 18th October when ticket prices go up. Right now it’s £29.95/£19.95 (grown-up/student) for the Weekend, and a steal of £5.00 for the Mini-Conference. That includes all event fees, refreshments, and a pizza party.
Hilary and I have been working with the Launch48 team to get the event set up, so feel free to fire any questions over to us. Hopefully see you there!
