Calling all developers, designers, business folks, marketers, social media strategists, students, and others enthusiasts who would like to have a ridiculously cool, meaningful, and kick-ass weekend…

Good news! It’s time Scotland got to experience the wonderful energy, magic, and startup creation that is Launch48. You’ve heard us blog about it before (here and here), and after enjoying our experience in London we are very excited the crew is crossing the border for the first time to run Launch48 Edinburgh at the end of October.

Hang on, what are we so excited about? Launch48 is an entrepreneurial event where participants have 48 hours to build and launch a web or mobile application. Attendees break into teams of 15-20 people with a mixed set of skills, and in the space of one weekend real businesses are created and launched. With teammates learning from one another, the event is open to everyone from serial entrepreneurs to young professionals to students of all subjects.

The very active Launch.ed team have come up with another competition to stimulate the student/recent graduates at Edinburgh University into enterprise. In true Launch.ed fashion – they don’t disappoint – with a 5k cash prize, alongside 3 runner up prizes of £1k. (more…)

LAUNCH.ed/iCUE Event Series

This year, LAUNCH.ed is teaming up with iCUE to offer a series of events to develop your practical entrepreneurship skills. The iCUE Event Series is free, open to all Edinburgh students and recent graduates, and is intended to be an excellent preparation for this year’s business plans. All events will begin at 18:30 with free beer and pizza unless otherwise stated.

Scottish Institute for EnterpriseEvery year, the Scottish Institute for Enterprise (SIE) places a few keen students in every higher education institution in Scotland to discuss and promote entrepreneurship amongst the student community. The 40ish strong team markets the services and events offered by the Universities and SIE such as mentoring, workshops, competitions, talks, and other seminars. (more…)
